Experience an exhibition of a wonderfully lyrical representation of unity between the human soul and the animal spirit.

On 13 canvases, the black backgrounds explode with strong and bold colors freely. Each piece conveys overlapping human expressions in animal forms, depicting anthropomorphism- the idea that people often exhibit behaviors, personalities, and physical traits, which resemble certain animals.

Through his paintings, Yaviz shows the duality of human soul: the two opposing forces that never meet. Light and Shadow. Unconscious and Conscious. Masculine and Feminine. They laugh and talk, they cry and are silenced, intertwined, but never coming together, like two people in a masquerade. The day the two finally connect is a day when a person will be whole and will know no fear, reaching a state of contentment and happiness.

“Capturing and expressing ‘the essence of the being’ in my paintings is of the utmost importance; in hopes that the viewer will not only see the beauty of the animal portrayed, but will also feel its undying spirit,” expressed the talented artist.

Yaviz’s intense lines and striking colors are most likely inspired by tribal patterns of Papuans and Aboriginal fabrics. When he was living in Australia he was exposed to and fascinated by the indigenous peoples of the land.

The Y Label's very first lookbook 'PRODIGAL SUN 2011' released on Wednesday, June the 15th! A collection of long and short sleeve shirts for men - photographed by Arseto Adiputra, styled by me with Arseto, and Sim Jennings as the model!

The lookbook flaunts the shirt collection in a variety of manners, ranging from casual to a more formal look. Shot on a fine sunny day amongst nature's perfection, the shirts' versatility can be seen to suit the different stylings and settings.

It truly was a creative+collaborative effort and I'm thankful for the opportunity to work with great talents and create an inspiring collection of photographs for my label!

Bali has many street dogs that are often subjected to the most horrendous cruelty. Some animal rescue organizations: BAWA, BARC and Yudhistira Swarga have been struggling to accommodate them all.

Oh, for DOG's Sake! is a charity art exhibition organized by Naka Contemporary Art to help raise money for street dogs in Bali.

They bring together diverse range of artists, local and international, to experiment unlimitedly with every possible interpretation of their love of the dogs in any kind of media they feel drawn to.

The Sahan is one of the massive collection of intriguing sculptures by the Batak tribes of northern Sumatran highlands. The remarkable object were used to store the magical substance known as Raja Ni Pagar. The Image of the Naga is associated with 'Naga Pandoha' the dragon lord of the underworld, hence the name Naga Morsarang.

So this time I created a brief for myself in which I had to make an illustration that would have the same impact and appeal to appear successfully on the cover of a well-known fashion magazine Vogue.

This publication is handed out to people that come to the Psychelogie event to inform them of the latest lifestyle trends and stories of people in the world today. Images of people used in the booklet are mostly close-ups as they were chosen intentionally to project a sense of closeness to the human core.

An emotional photo shoot led me to make this particular brief for myself. I used natural lighting for the photography to get a natural feel and it shows really well on the texture of the scarf and the fur of the teddy bear in the background. The packaging of the CD is made out of paper material and is designed as a flip-open booklet. The CD is placed inside and can easily be rolled out from the middle opening of the packaging.

Having David Carson as the main subject for this brief was very exciting for me as he is a very experimental typographer who’s not afraid to break the rules. Research was the most crucial factor since I had to come up with a visual work for a poster that represents his aesthetics to design and typography while at the same time incorporating my own personal design style.

HAIR OF THE DOG

Hair of the Dog is a brand for beer, so colour was a big issue during the designing process. I wanted the product to have a masculine feel but at the same time cool enough to appeal to the female consumers. The logo also needed to be unique and memorable, so I chose a bold line work of a two-headed dog with an equally bold typeface for the branding.
